For Agencies

We provide crew and gear for agencies looking to quickly stand up productions in the Bay Area and beyond. Founders Brett Loveman and Corey Sheppard are longtime directors and DPs with backgrounds in commercial and documentary work.

We can provide anything from a single DP with a full camera and lighting package to larger crews. We pride ourselves on being fast, flexible and cost-efficient. And with a sister company in Brooklyn, we’ve got East Coast needs covered as well.

About

Founded in San Francisco in 2012, Cut Canvas is the creative home of Brett Loveman and Corey Sheppard. They are grateful dads, advanced scuba divers, and lifelong cinephiles. Both believe trust is earned and that small acts of service make great partnerships.

Brett Loveman

Brett Loveman is a director, cinematographer and communications strategist working at the intersection of storytelling, technology and brand. A veteran DP and director, he has led everything from nimble documentary crews to six-figure commercial and corporate productions.

Brett's roots are in documentary filmmaking and underwater cinematography. Since founding Cut Canvas in 2012, he has produced hundreds of films across technology, ocean conservation, higher education, aviation, bioscience and affordable housing, with clients including Rolex, Square and The Nature Conservancy. Deeply technical in production and post, he brings an understanding of the entire filmmaking process to his work as a director and creative lead.

Before filmmaking, Brett worked as a Wall Street analyst, then moved to Rome, where he played jazz piano professionally for two years. He later moved into brand and communications strategy, experience that continues to shape his approach to filmmaking as a powerful tool for communicating complex ideas clearly and memorably.

Corey Sheppard

Corey Sheppard is a director and cinematographer known for bold visual storytelling, a strong sense of color and an instinct for bringing personality to every production. An accomplished director, he is at home leading large crews or hands-on with camera and lighting.

Corey built his career in New York, developing a body of work spanning alcohol, travel, technology, documentary and high-end real estate. His approach combines polished craft with a love of whimsy and unexpected visual ideas, making him a creative asset from early concept through final frame.

He is also the co-founder of our NYC-based sister company, Halleloo Creative, where he has directed and produced work for major brands including Nike, Verizon and Pernod Ricard.
